Selection Criteria

Students belonging to the OBC, EBC, and DNT categories will be selected based on merit, as determined by the entrance examination results. Given that the majority of the funding is designated for OBC candidates, they will be prioritized during the selection process.

If the number of eligible students in the first year is lower than the number of allocated slots, the institution may extend the remaining slots to eligible students in the second, third, or fourth year. In such cases, the previous year’s inter-se merit will be used for selection, with preference given to those who have more years left in their course. For instance, second-year students will be preferred over third-year students, and so on.

Additionally, 30% of the total slots are reserved for meritorious girl students. If there are not enough eligible girls to fill these reserved slots, the remaining slots may be reallocated to boys based on merit. This 30% reservation is exclusive of girl students already selected through the overall merit list.

For more specific details on the merit list structure, institutions should refer to Annexure 1 of the Scholarship Guidelines.

Terms and Conditions

  • A maximum of two siblings from the same family can benefit from this scheme.
  • The scholarship will be discontinued if a student fails to progress to the next academic term or class.

Living expenses, along with allowances for books, stationery, and the purchase of a computer/laptop with accessories, are transferred directly to the student via DBT.
  • For renewal, the institution must verify that the student has advanced to the next academic year and has been re-admitted. Students are expected to purchase a laptop/computer in their first year and submit the purchase invoice when applying for subsequent renewals.
  • Institutions that fail to adhere to the scheme’s provisions or government-issued instructions may be de-notified.
